University of Kent with OKATECH: Three arts under one roof

| OKALUX | Reference

The University of Kent modernised its Art, Film and Visual Arts departments by bringing them together in the Jarman Building.

Designed by Hawkins\Brown, the building is characterised by its zinc-clad exterior and offers both functionality and modernity. Its design is accentuated by floor-to-ceiling windows that ensure a connection between the interior spaces and the outside world, – which is particularly fitting for a place dedicated to art.

The exterior of the building has a unique metallic sheen created by the zinc cladding. This effect is further enhanced by the use of OKATECH, a state-of-the-art daylighting solution with insulating glazing and metal interlayers. This not only provides effective solar shading, but also gives the building a fascinating, semi-transparent appearance.
