Safety glass

As passive or active protection, our safety glass is extremely durable and suitable for all areas of use with increased safety requirements.

The break-proof glass for extra passive safety

SWISSDUREX ESG single-pane safety glass has a greater flexural strength than float glass or heat-strengthened glass. This makes it ideal for all glass applications with increased resistance to impact, shock and hail as well as temperature.

For certain areas of application, the heat soak test (HST) is additionally recommended or required. HST guarantees that spontaneous fractures due to possible nickel sulphide inclusions in the glass are reduced to an absolute minimum. The glass is exposed to a controlled heat load for several hours in a special furnace.

SWISSDUREX ESG also serves as a basis for printed or otherwise refined designer glass.

Usage For increased safety requirements both in interior design and in façades; as a protection against hail damage in overhead glazing

Dimensions Made-to-measure up to max. 900x321 cm; glass thickness from 3 to 12 mm

The glass with increased impact strength, shock and temperature resistance

The heat-strengthened glass SWISSDUREX TVG is more resistant to mechanical influences than float glass and has increased thermal shock resistance. Unlike single-pane safety glass, however, heat-strengthened glass does not disintegrate into glass particles in the event of breakage.

SWISSDUREX TVG can be used anywhere where increased temperature loads occur or increased mechanical resistance is required – but glass particle formation is not necessary in the event of damage.

Usage Further processing as laminated safety glass; for increased safety requirements in façades

High-strength laminated glass with maximum active safety

The SWISSLAMEX VSG laminated safety glass consists of two or more glass panes with tear-resistant, viscoplastic intermediate layers of film. The structure and thickness of the elements are based on the requirements for the glass solution. By combining different types of glass and film layers, it is possible to achieve not only penetration, breakthrough and bullet resistance, but also safety properties such as crash and fall-through protection as well as accessibility.

SWISSLAMEX VSG is light-resistant and ageing-resistant.

Unlike single-pane safety glass (ESG), SWISSLAMEX VSG binds glass splinters together in the event of breakage. It resembles a spider’s web with a narrower or wider mesh structure depending on the strength of the impact.

Laminated safety glass can be processed into design glass with colour foils, prints and/or special inlays.

Usage In compliance with maximum safety requirements; protection from penetration, crash, as well as break-ins, break-outs and breakthroughs; also suitable for accessible areas

Dimensions Made-to-measure up to max. 900x321 cm; glass thickness from 3 to 12 mm

Special feature Resistant to light and ageing; also UV-transparent or possible with soundproofing
