From Classicism to Constructivism

| OKALUX | Reference

When cigar manufacturer Henri van Abbe bequeathed his private art collection in Eindhoven in 1934, he made one condition: The works were to be exhibited in a museum. Two years later, a neoclassical brick building designed by Kropholler was erected near the current town hall.

When the museum became too small in the 1990s, the Amsterdam architect Abel Cahen built an extension dedicated to deconstructivism. Today, the sharp-edged complex houses almost 3000 works. Over 850 square metres of OKALUX+ were installed here – the best choice as insulating glass, as it emphasises the use of daylight in the interior spaces.
