OKATECH Copper: Contributing to a conservatory

| OKALUX | Reference

With a fascinating folding facade, John Wardle Architects pay tribute to music-making at the Ian Potter Southbank Centre Conservatorium of Music in Melbourne.

In addition to thousands of handmade Japanese tiles, whose shape is meant to evoke musical notations, our daylighting system with OKATECH Expanded Metal with copper inlay also adds special touches. To optimize the learning atmosphere for the music students, some of the panels are covered with acoustic laminate on both the inside and the outside. While acoustic seclusion is necessary for the conservatory's activities, portholes at pedestrian level provide occasional views into the learning and rehearsal spaces.
