Sustainable Living in Berlin

| Glas Trösch | Reference

In the green neighbourhood of Französisch Buchholz, Berlin, the "Kokoni One" residential quarter is taking shape. With a focus on eco-friendly living and adaptable housing, this project is designed by ZRS Architekten Ingenieure who are known for their forward-looking visions.

Their architectural concept encourages community building, with clusters of up to 10 houses surrounding shared courtyards. A central orchard meadow fosters social interaction and provides ample green space. Prefabricated wood panel exterior walls filled with cellulose insulation ensure energy efficiency, while untreated wood cladding adds to the natural aesthetic. The low-energy design is further supported by a geothermal energy network and photovoltaic systems powering the heat pumps. For the glazing, as it needs to meet the same standards of sustainable living, a high-performance triple insulating glass with SILVERSTAR EN2plus was used, offering excellent thermal insulation with low U-values to ensure optimal energy efficiency throughout the year.
