With a length of 110 meters and a clear design language, the new building not only fits into the existing building ensemble, but also creates a new inner courtyard. For the double-skin facade by Aepli Metallbau, which is adorned on all sides and consists of glass block elements and window strips, we supplied for the latter the triple insulating glass SILVERSTAR EN2plus and the triple insulating glass SILVERSTAR COMBI Neutral 70/35. The glass is optimized according to their orientation to combine thermal insulation and high light transmission.
The building's accessibilty, dimension, and professional orientation require a sophisticated fire protection concept, of which our fire protection glass FIRESWISS FOAM is a part. In case of fire, the glass forms a solid foam sheet, which allows safe passage along escape and rescue routes. Normally, however, the fire-resistant glass inside the university building functions as a high-quality design solution that fits in with the overall concept of the interior.
The building was realized to DGNB/SGNI Gold, GI Good Indoor Climate around Minergie-ECO Standards and already awarded with the latter.
