A cube of light and wood

| OKALUX | Reference

In Schönaich, a glass cube complements the ensemble of the historic Protestant church and the parish hall from the 1920s.

As mourning hall, architect Eckhard Ernst designed a simple cube with OKAWOOD glass façade. A combination of a lot of light and wood sets a skillful contrast between the modern and historical buildings. The insulating glass with a wooden grid in the krypton-filled space between the panes allows the hall space to connect with the park-like cemetery, yet those present are protected from outside views during the day. The incoming light is given a changing character depending on the time of day and weather conditions by using eleven-millimeter-wide wooden slats, which creates an extraordinary atmosphere in the room.
