The latest generation of SILVERSTAR solar protection glass

Why summer thermal insulation should be included in planning

Climate change is causing more heatwaves in our latitudes, which in turn is having an impact on how we use glass in architecture. While the aim in winter is to let in as much sun as possible, this quickly makes for an uncomfortable indoor climate in summer. External solar protection solutions such as roller shutters or awnings can counteract overheating, but these are difficult to install on large glass surfaces and change the character of the building.

As a result, there is high demand for windows and glass façades that allow in plenty of natural light but do not let the room temperature get too high in summer. Our state-of-the-art solar protection coatings combine these requirements and also meet the high aesthetic standards of modern architecture.

360-degree glazing: targeted use of energy-saving potential

Most buildings still use the same type of glass throughout, which wastes potential. Factors such as the location of the building, the size and orientation of the glass surfaces as well as shading influence the solar radiation and should determine the choice of glass. South-facing façades are exposed to more intense sunlight than east and west-facing ones. In tall buildings, the lower floors often get less sun due to shade.

With targeted solar protection coatings, the 360-degree glazing system responds to these individual requirements and optimises energy efficiency. EUROGLAS offers a wide range of coated solar protection glass products, giving you the right solution for every type of installation.

Intelligent coatings for every type of installation

With different total energy transmittance (g-values) and optimised selectivity, the range of solar protection coatings from EUROGLAS has something for every façade and every place of use. All coatings have a Ug value in line with the latest standards and a reduced external reflection of less than 15%.

When combining different solar protection coatings in a building envelope using 360-degree glazing, it is essential to achieve a uniform colour. Here, SILVERSTAR coatings lead the way with their uniform, neutral blue external reflection. All solar protection coatings are also available as a temperable version (T).

SILVERSTAR SELEKT 70

The SILVERSTAR SELEKT 70 is the ideal solution for all types of glazing where basic solar protection is required – so especially for façades with a low or medium proportion of glazing. Thanks to its very high light transmission, this coating is particularly suitable for residential buildings and as an alternative to low-E coatings.

SILVERSTAR COMBI Neutral 60

The SILVERSTAR COMBI Neutral 60 has an even lower g-value than the SELEKT 70, making it the ideal choice for more demanding solar protection requirements. It can be used on façades with a higher proportion of glazing, as is often the case for office and administrative buildings, for example.

SILVERSTAR COMBI Neutral 50

The SILVERSTAR COMBI Neutral 50 has an extremely low g-value and boasts remarkable light transmission despite its very effective summer thermal insulation. This highly selective coating is suitable for façades with a very high proportion of glass or all-glass façades that are exposed to intense sunlight.
