Remaining a landmark

| OKALUX | Reference

Located in the heart of Tokyo's Nishi-Shinjuku district, the Shinjuku Mitsui Building by Nihon Sekkei has been an architectural icon since its completion in 1974. As the pioneering skyscraper, it was conceived with the aim of creating vibrant spaces for human interaction.

In the recent decade, the building has undergone significant renovations to maintain its status as a landmark, including updates to its seismic safety systems and enhancements to its main entrance. For the renovated lobby area, we provided OKATECH, a double-glazing solution with laminated safety glass and integrated expanded metal inserts. This glass combines aesthetics with functionality, offering a modern, semi-transparent look that contributes to a timeless and elegant design. The result is a visually striking entrance that reflects the building’s dynamic legacy while meeting contemporary architectural demands.
