High standard for news and natural lighting

| OKALUX | Reference

Every day, over 10 million people watch the German news programme Tagesschau.

The reports are produced here, in the new ARD-aktuell editorial building. The core: the joint multimedia newsroom of Tagesschau, Tagesthemen and Nachtmagazin as well as tagesschau24 and the online service tagesschau.de and social media. The new building was designed as an extension to the existing editorial building by the Braunschweig architects struhkarchitekten BDA and is located on the NDR premises in Hamburg-Lokstedt.

The three-storey newsroom with staggered galleries on the first and first floors enables communication and close links between the levels. The space is supplied with sufficient daylight via the roof glazing with OKASOLAR 3D insulating glass in the circular ceiling area. The three-dimensional sun protection grid in the cavity between glass panes prevents direct solar transmission and ensures even light distribution in the interior.
