Sustainable Transformation

| Glas Trösch | Reference

Near Zürich's central train station, at Müllerstrasse, a pioneering construction project is advancing. Built in the 1980s, a seven-story building has maintained its aesthetic appeal and is now undergoing refurbishment to meet the latest energy requirements.

The renovation of the building includes a significant reuse of the building envelope and requires a sophisticated interplay. The façade contains eyrise BV solar shading glass units, that were produced in collaboration with specialized companies of the Glas Trösch Group: the coated glass was supplied by BGT Bischoff Glastechnik, while the final insulating glass units were assembled by Okalux.

Thanks to the efforts of the façade builders from Aepli Metallbau AG it was possible to retain the original aluminum façade elements and precisely fit the new glazing. The project, led by Ilmer Thies architects, is a testament to sustainable building practices, emphasizing resource awareness and the principles of circular economy.
