SILVERSTAR COMBI: New library in Egypt's new capital city

| Glas Trösch | Reference

Where a lot of sand and hardly any roads existed, Egypt's new capital has been emerging at record speed since 2015. The metropolis, which still has no name, is located just 50 kilometres east of the current capital Cairo and is intended to relieve the latter in the future. On an area of 127 hectares, the „City of Arts and Culture" district is also currently being built with a number of theatres, museums and libraries.

The new library building already houses 70,000 books at present – in the future it will be five million! One of them is the original book "Description de l'Egypte", a rare and comprehensive catalogue of Egyptian culture and natural history from the early 1800s. Our solarcontrol coating SILVERSTAR COMBI Neutral 61/32 on low iron EUROWHITE glass not only meets the important conservation requirements for light-sensitive objects like this one, but also protects the interior from overheating.
