It is of great significance because our exclusive daylight system OKATECH emerged from the planning of this building. Together with the renowned representative of modernist architecture Rem Koolhaas and his international architectural office OMA, we developed an insulating glass with an expanded metal insert.
The aluminium mesh in the space between the panes completes the impressive cubature of the library by giving the façade a special shine and metallic effect. In addition, it functions as a direction-selective daylighting system and provides effective solar and glare protection. The semi-transparent glazing also allows a clear view from inside the building, offering a library visit in front of the Seattle skyline.
