Energy efficiency for a mid-century school building

| Glas Trösch | Reference

With the combination of yellow clinker brick and numerous windows on a gray façade, the Stegmatt school complex in Lyss, built at the end of the 1950s, still impresses with a friendly modern appearance.

To ensure that today's energy requirements can also be met, H+R Architekten were commissioned to renovate the building, that is classified as worthy of protection. The façade and roof were insulated, and all exterior doors and windows were replaced. For this purpose, our double insulating glass SILVERSTAR SELEKT 74/42 with SILVERSTAR CONTROL and our triple insulating glass SILVERSTAR EN2plus were used.

Maximum sun protection and thermal insulation is provided and thanks to the blinds integrated in the space between the panes, it is a technically optimal solution for daylight control in the building. The system thus enables optimal use of natural light and, if necessary, offers effective glare, privacy and heat protection. This way, classrooms can host the lessons undisturbed with as much daylight as possible while being protected from the sun and energy efficiency is fostered.
